Live streaming & broadcast

Internet hire and rental built for live streaming

A livestream lives or dies on upload. SyncSource combines several mobile networks (and Starlink) into one connection, so your stream has more upload capacity and a backup path if one network drops.

Built by people who run live streams

SyncSource was started by a working live event video operator who runs multi-camera productions. We built the service we wanted on our own jobs: internet you can trust when the stream is going out live and there's no second take.

That means we think about what matters to a production crew. Upload speed, not download. Steady bandwidth, not a single speed-test peak. And a connection that keeps the stream alive when one network gets congested.

Why bonding beats a single connection

A single 5G modem or phone hotspot can look fast in a speed test and still drop frames during a stream, because mobile speeds rise and fall as other people use the same tower. When that one network dips, your stream dips with it.

Bonding sends your data across several networks at once. If Telstra slows down, Optus and Vodafone carry the load, and Starlink can be added for sites with poor mobile coverage. Your encoder sees one stable connection.

What quality can I stream?

Sync Pro is our go-to kit for 1080p streams. Higher bitrates, including 4K, are possible where signal allows, so we always do a site check first and give you an honest answer about what your location can support. For critical streams, we recommend a test on site before the event.

FAQ

Common questions

What upload speed do I need for a livestream?

It depends on your resolution, frame rate and platform. A 1080p stream typically needs several Mbps of steady upload, and 4K needs considerably more. More important than the peak is having headroom above your bitrate, so short dips don't cause buffering. Tell us your planned bitrate and we'll advise.

Does it work with my encoder or streaming platform?

Yes. The box gives you a normal WiFi and wired network connection, so it works with hardware encoders, streaming software like OBS or vMix, and platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo and custom RTMP or SRT destinations.

Can I plug in with a network cable?

Yes. For streaming we recommend a wired connection from your encoder to the box wherever possible. It's more reliable than WiFi.

What if the signal at my venue is poor?

We check coverage before you book. For locations with weak mobile reception, Sync Ultra adds Starlink to the bonded connection.

Can someone help during the stream?

Yes. We monitor the connection remotely during your hire, and you can call or message us if anything looks off.
